DIRFT! A companion post to the last one (Back to Basics)…

A coworker of mine used to say, “DIRFT” when she would find a mistake in work that most likely could have been avoided when the work was originally done.  DIRFT stands for “Do It Right the First Time”.  Taking the necessary time to focus, verify and double check saves times in the long run even when you think you don’t have the extra time at the moment.  A good reminder and an idea capture in some great quotes…

“It takes less time to do a thing right, than it does to explain why you did it wrong.” – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

“If you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?”  – John Wooden
